Books
- Why Design? By Anna Slater & Kevin Cahil. Filled with short essays and exercises that fully explore what good design is and why it’s often so hard to make it happen. Focuses on real-world, physical examples that illustrate the concepts that apply to everything.
- The Design Student’s Journey, by Bryan Lawson. A lovely walk through the challenges and lessons of become a designer, structured in a way that supports teachers.
Course Materials
- Cooper Hewitt education resources. The largest design museum in the U.S. provides a wide array of lesson plans and materials for many different teaching situations.
- AIGA Design Teaching Resources. A compendium of teaching materials, project reviews and discussion boards for teachers of visual and other kinds of design.
